Welcome to The Omega, Thompson Rivers University’s independent student newspaper, serving the vibrant community of students, faculty, and staff. As the primary source of news, opinions, and features on campus, we strive to uphold the highest standards of journalism excellence while fostering a dynamic exchange of ideas and perspectives.
Established under the auspices of the Cariboo Student Newspaper Society, a registered non-profit organization, The Omega is dedicated to providing timely, accurate, and engaging content to our readership. Every student in good standing at Thompson Rivers University is an active member of our society, empowering them to contribute to and engage with the journalistic endeavors of our publication.
At the heart of our operation is a commitment to ethical reporting, grounded in the principles of integrity, accountability, and transparency. We adhere closely to Canadian standards of quality journalism, ensuring that our reporting is fair, balanced, and reflective of the diverse voices within our community.
While we currently publish exclusively online, we are excited to announce plans for the reintroduction of a print edition over the coming year. This expansion will allow us to reach even more members of the TRU community and provide a tangible platform for the exchange of ideas and information.
Our board of directors convenes monthly to provide oversight and guidance, ensuring that The Omega remains a trusted source of news and information for our readers. We welcome feedback, suggestions, and contributions from all members of the TRU community as we continue to evolve and grow.
Thank you for joining us on this journey as we strive to inform, engage, and inspire the Thompson Rivers University community through the power of journalism.
