Melissa Vasey - Editor-in-Chief

Happy New Year! We’ve been busy bees here at The Omega, and a lot of changes have been implemented during our one-month hiatus.

The most exciting of which is the re-launch of www.theomega.ca. Myrissa Krenzler and I began planning a new website when we took over as co-EICs one year ago. It has taken this long to progress from idea to execution but the wait has been worth it.

In that same vein, we are currently hiring a digital editor to update the website on a daily basis, as it’s our intention to now post news as it happens. If you think you may be interested in this opportunity, please check out the job posting on theomega.ca website. (The application deadline is Friday.)

If you aren’t interested in the opportunity, check out theomega.ca website anyway. It’s pretty cool. It’s our intention to create an Omega that connects with it’s readers on more than one platform, with the website supplementing, rather than mimicking, the printed newspapers that hit the stands.

In addition, our Twitter account (@OmegaNewspaper) is the key to snagging free event tickets and other tidbits of info that the campus wouldn’t otherwise hear about.

You’ll also see two new columnists in this issue. Our own news editor Amber Yake is making her debut on page 5, while TRU graduate T.J. Kelly writes about her current adventures of travelling and living in her van on page 9.

And finally, Luc McConnell’s Christmas wish of a crossword puzzle has come true, on the game page.

Here’s to a new semester, and an Omega that’s better than ever. Cheers!
